Focused Shockwave Therapy in Mission Viejo
Advanced, Non-Invasive Treatment for Persistent Musculoskeletal Pain
At Faith Family Chiropractic, we offer Focused Shockwave Therapy (fESWT) using our Mark VI Focused Shockwave System. This advanced technology delivers precisely targeted acoustic energy deep into injured or painful tissues to stimulate biological processes associated with healing, improve function, and help reduce pain.
5 Potential Benefits of Focused Shockwave Therapy
1. Helps Reduce Pain
Focused acoustic energy may help decrease pain sensitivity and provide relief in areas that have remained painful despite more traditional conservative treatments.
2. Supports the Body's Natural Healing Response
Shockwave therapy creates a controlled mechanical stimulus within the targeted tissue, encouraging biological responses associated with tissue repair and remodeling.
3. Improves Circulation to the Treated Area
Treatment may promote increased local blood flow and vascular activity, helping create an environment more supportive of recovery.
4. Helps Improve Mobility and Function
By addressing painful and restricted tissues, focused shockwave therapy may help patients move more comfortably and return to work, exercise, sports, and everyday activities.
5. Non-Invasive and Drug-Free
Focused shockwave therapy does not require injections or surgery and generally involves little to no downtime.
Conditions We May Treat
Focused Shockwave Therapy may be helpful for a variety of persistent musculoskeletal conditions, including:
-
Plantar fasciitis and chronic heel pain
-
Achilles tendon problems
-
Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow
-
Rotator cuff and shoulder tendon problems
-
Patellar tendon pain

Certain chronic ligament and soft-tissue conditions
Not every painful condition is appropriate for shockwave therapy. Dr. Javad Faith will evaluate your condition first to determine whether focused shockwave treatment is suitable for you.
What Does Focused Shockwave Treatment Feel Like?
Treatment is directed precisely to the injured or painful area. Because focused shockwave stimulates sensitive tissue, the treatment will often feel uncomfortable and can sometimes be painful.
You remain in control throughout your treatment.
Dr. Faith will adjust the treatment intensity according to your response and keep it within a level you consider reasonably tolerable. You may ask for the intensity to be reduced, the treatment to be paused, or the treatment to be stopped at any time.
A typical treatment is relatively brief, and many patients are able to return to their normal daily activities afterward. Temporary soreness, tenderness, redness, or mild bruising can occasionally occur following treatment.
Why Focused Shockwave?
Not all shockwave systems deliver energy in the same way.
Our Mark VI Focused Shockwave System delivers energy to a controlled focal area within the tissues rather than simply treating the surface. This allows us to target deeper musculoskeletal structures while adjusting the treatment according to the location and sensitivity of your condition.
Focused Shockwave Therapy may be used by itself or incorporated into a broader treatment plan that may include chiropractic care, rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and laser therapy when appropriate.
Find Out If Focused Shockwave Therapy Is Right for You
If you have a painful condition that has been slow to improve—or a tendon, muscle, ligament, or soft-tissue problem that keeps returning—Focused Shockwave Therapy may be worth considering.
